Top 5 iPod training songs: I don’t use an iPod. You don’t get to race with one, so I don’t believe in them.

What is your favorite race: Can I pick two? I’ll assume so, 1- The Tour of the Battenkill. How can you not love this race? There is dirt roads, covered bridges, punchy climbs, a tough field, and long racing miles! This is a race that captures the heart of our sport. However, the race closest to my heart is The Redlands Bicycle Classic. It is my hometown race, a race that I have dreamed about since I began cycling. It is put on by an all volunteer staff and let me tell you, they work so hard, it is absolutely impressive how much time and effort each of these volunteers pour into the race just to see cycling be featured prominently in our community!

What is your biggest race result or victory: 2012 SCNCA California District Road Champion. I am a firm believer that every win is a team win. It was a dream of mine to win this race and it took all of my teammates support to achieve this result. Every one of my teammates helped support me, we set up an early break that was established and strengthened throughout the race and when the time was right I rode across to the break-away and we finished off the job by pulling away from the field. I have very fond memories of this race, much to Paul’s (our Team Manager) dismay, I didn’t salute. I wanted to ride hard all the way to the line, there was no need to celebrate, I simply did my job, as did all of my teammates.

What are you most excited about for the 2013 season with CashCall?: We have a whole new level of depth on the team and that excites me. We are going to bigger races and we have more pressure to get results. I thrive in this environment and I am excited to be pushed to rise to the occasion and achieve the results that I know we are capable of. There is much work to be done, but many great things will come from it, I am confident of that.

What is your favorite Hammer Nutrition product?: I like all of their products, but specifically, I really enjoy their gel products, I like how mild the flavor is, and they are very easy to digest in the heat of a race.

What is your favorite post-race meal?: Paul and my wife would be mad that I will admit this but, 110% my favorite meal is a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwhich, specifically made of Lara Scudders Natural (smooth) Peanut Butter and Smuckers, extra fruit, Strawberry preserves. Both of which are conveniently purchasable in bulk across the nation through Costco…a lucky coincidence for my tastebuds!

What do you like most about the Jakroo products?: I like all of our Jakroo products, but I especially like the rain jacket we use. This rain jacket has saved my in more than just rainy conditions. It is light-weight, small in size, and very versatile. It is a must have for any road trip to an unknown area.

What is your favorite non-cycling activity?: I have three, in a specific order.
1- Hanging out with my wife and dog, Moto. They are the highlight of my life and I look forward to any time I get to spend with them.

2- Woodworking, although this is a hobby I do not get to spend a lot of time doing. I love to build things and be precise, I love to use my Grandfathers tools, its about family nostalgia and old traditions;

3- I have recently found the simple joys of shooting guns (at targets…I’m not a hunter). I never did this as a boy and I wish I had. There is a simple validation of my man-hood by responsibly using and understanding the mechanics of a firearm.. My military family members would be proud.
